Once you become a "Business Owner" (that title sounds great doesn't it) of your very own business, that puts you in control of your success. You can decide to offer your services on a part-time basis to supplement your current income, or you can invest all your time into building a full-time professional petcare business.
Initially you can decide to do everything yourself or you can hire one or more helpers. It may be a good idea to start off solo until you find several regular customers (for walking/sitting or grooming) and have your pet business organized before expanding. New business owners usually like the freedom of working alone so they can set their own hours and the income is all "theirs."
Try not to grow your business too fast. It is better to ease into a daily, weekly, or monthly routine that will not cause stress for you or your family. Nothing can close a business faster than taking on too much too fast.
Take your time and make wise decisions on the front end. Being self-employed can be a fun, exciting, and rewarding experience if done right. Even if the economy continues to get bad, people will continue to supply the needs of their beloved family dog or pet.
One more suggestion: If you are going to look for repeat business, try to look for customers in your own neighborhood. Nothing can cut into your time and your profit more than having to buy extra gas and spend extra time driving across town to service one customer. Use your computer to design an attractive, professional looking flyer and place them in your neighborhood businesses or place an ad in the local penny-saver or shoppers news. If you have a large apartment complex nearby, it would make a great place to focus your customer search.
And remember, one satisfied customer can bring you unlimited new business. Pet owners have friends who are pet owners, and finding a person they trust is as important as finding a sitter for their children. Once they find "you" they will recommend your great service with others.

Turn Your Love Of Pets Into $$$
GROOMING - TRAINING - DAY SITTING - WALKING - BOARDING
The pet industry is absolutely massive! It has been reported that over 80 million homes in the United States have at least one or more Pets, and many of them are looking for help with obedience training, potty training, grooming services, or safe day-care, walking, sitting, or boarding.
If you are seriously thinking about starting your own pet care business... WAIT a minute! Don't run out and start your business without first making several important decisions. You want a pet care business that will make you money... not lose your money.
First, decide which service you want to offer and focus on being the best at that service. Too many people try to start out by offering a variety of services and end up spreading themselves so thin that they can't adequately fulfill all the services they offer.
Bad service will not only lose existing business, but bad service will keep you from getting new business. "Always protect your reputation." And keep in mind that "word-of-mouth" praise is one of the best advertisements you can have... and its FREE. Great customer service for your regular customers can get you as much new business as an expensive printed advertisement.
